Someone Needs What You Have

Women · From the book New Every Morning

Verse:

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. —Galatians 2:20, NIV

It seems as though this story would have had a much different ending from how it started. Jesus came to the well to meet a woman who He knew had been living in sin. When she saw Him, she didn’t realize she would become an evangelist.

As the conversation carried on, Jesus let her know that He knew all about her. Her husbands. The man she was now living with, who was not her husband.

He knew all about her and still accepted her and invited her to a life-changing relationship with God. This conversation and His acceptance changed her life.

He didn’t even need to tell her what to do next.

When He set her free from sin, shame, and guilt, she became the head of His sales department. The woman began telling everyone her story, inviting them to come and see this man who had changed her heart and offered her acceptance and forgiveness and hope. People needed to hear her story.

They could relate to her story. Soon, the entire town was joining her to listen to Jesus. Being the head of sales for Jesus was a great job.

The woman would never get another offer as great as this one.

She could never be fired. The woman just needed to tell her story. The benefits lasted long after she died —they will last through eternity.

We know she started her job right then as she ran back to her village and shouted to everyone, “Let me tell you about a man,” but I’m sure the woman continued to tell her story —and that people heard about her and came to hear it in her own words. Sister, someone needs to hear about how you became who you are and how you got here. They need to know what God did in your life, how Jesus spoke to you, and what He offered you. Whatever your job, business, or life may be, it’s only a vehicle to tell them who your boss is. Jesus invites you to be His head of sales.
