Consciously Fashionable

Women · From the book New Every Morning

Verse:

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. —Proverbs 8:17, KJV

I wake up each morning and do a daily regimen of personal care of my body. It features a habit of facial care that is very important to me.

Whenever I travel or visit friends and family, I am known to carry the products essential for this skin-care habit. I believe that whenever I take care of my body, the temple of God, I am doing what God asked of me.

The same principles apply to our hearts and minds.

When we wake up each morning, we need to care for our spiritual lives even more than our physical bodies. I begin my day with prayer and giving God thanks for all He has done and provided. I spend time praising Him through songs and feasting on scriptures. Meditating on His Word throughout the day heightens my faith and trust.

I set aside time to petition the throne of mercy for my family, friends, church leaders, world leaders, and people. This daily routine ignites something in me.

I feel more connected to God because the Holy Spirit guides and comforts me along my journey. It deepens and energizes my walk with God.

Praising God is a spiritual tradition that I treasure dearly.

It was passed down to my siblings and me from my mother, who always made sure that we learned to give homage and reverence to our heavenly Father.

It is a privilege to glorify Him. Praising Him makes my day easier and my heart stronger. My burdens lighter, I walk in His confidence and wisdom, and my spirit becomes more pleasant. While I still have my bouts of persecution that discourage me, I am reminded that Jesus is always on my side, so I press on.

Although the body He gave us is important, caring for our spiritual lives is even more important. God’s Words are spirit and truth (John 6:63). As we memorize His Word, God promises to write it on our hearts (Hebrews 10:16).

As we study to show ourselves approved unto God, we can serve Him without shame or beating ourselves up (2 Timothy 2:15).

Our faces will glow and be radiant, not from a skin-care regime but from the time we spend with God. “They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed” (Psalm 34:5, NKJV).
