Verse:Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. —Proverbs 22:6, NKJV
Mary, did you know? What an awesome responsibility did Mary, the mother of Jesus, have in all the innocence and inexperience of finding herself a mother—while still a teen. She knew, and yet, she did not know! She kept what she knew deep in her heart.
What about you? Did you know? When you held your newborn babe in your arms, did you know of God’s plan for your babe’s future? As tender motherly emotions overwhelm your heart, with the instinctive desire to cradle, protect, care for, and love uppermost in your heart—did you consider the role God would play in the life of your bundle of joy? Was God in your emotions and feelings? For sure! I would say, “Yes!” Let us not forget that God has a purpose for each child, irrespective of the circumstances related to the birth.
Each child is unique and has a place in God’s heart of love, and in His providence, He provides His guardian angels to care for them.
The parent or guardian of that child may happily contribute to the child’s divinely appointed upbringing or may even sadly cause the child to deviate from God’s plan.
This is an awesome, serious thought to ponder in our hearts! “The work of the mother becomes infinite through her connection with Christ. It is beyond understanding. Woman’s office is sacred. The presence of Jesus is needed in the home; for the mother’s ministries of love may shape the home into a Bethel. . . . What a world we would have if all mothers would consecrate themselves on the altar of God, and would consecrate their offspring to God, both before and after its birth!” “The [mother] may receive no earthly credit for her labor; but if she works for the best interests of her family, seeking to fashion their characters after the divine Model, the recording angel writes her name as one of the greatest missionaries in the world.” Time may eventually show you the beauty of your motherly care and love for your children.
And while you may find joy in seeing your child grow and be productive here on earth—may we all know the blessing of seeing our children saved for the earth made new!
