Merry Christmas!

Adults · From the book The Hope Of Glory

Verse:

“The glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” —Isaiah 40:5

Christmas Day is a reminder to the world that God is a God who keeps His promises. In the third chapter of the Bible, God promised a Deliverer would bruise the head of the serpent (Genesis 3:15).

Satan would be defeated by One who would come into the world to save fallen human beings. Jeremiah 31:31 assured the world that a new covenant would one day come into effect, a covenant that would be ratified by Jesus the Messiah.

The prophet Daniel specified the Messiah would come to the earth in harmony with a divine timetable (Daniel 9:24–27).

Isaiah wrote that the Messiah would be “despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief” (Isaiah 53:3).

And the same prophet predicted that the Messiah would be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14). So many biblical predictions were made about the advent of the Messiah, and not one of them proved to be inaccurate.

The psalmist said the hands and feet of the Messiah would be pierced and that not one of His bones would be broken (Psalms 22:16; 34:20).

Zechariah speaks of the wounds in Jesus’ hands.

He also declared that the Messiah would come riding on a donkey (Zechariah 9:9). Dozens of predictions were made about the Messiah.

In other words, dozens of predictions made by God about the Messiah were fulfilled, and every promise was kept. Still, other promises made in relation to the ministry of Jesus have not yet been fulfilled. Jesus promised He would return to the earth. While He has yet to do so, the proliferation of fulfilled predictions and promises must suggest those that are not yet fulfilled will be fulfilled one soon day.

The Bible predicts the end of sin, the Holy City coming to earth, and an eternity without sickness, sadness, or sin.

The God who has never broken a promise pledges to us today that just as He has always kept His promises in the past, He will do so in the future.

Jesus is coming back soon!
