Verse:He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. —Psalm 23:2, 3, NKJV
I have a lot of fond memories with my husband; I treasure each one. I believe in the resurrection, so I know I’ll see my husband again (1 Thessalonians 4:14–18). Until that day, I will walk with God and find ways to be a blessing.
Are you also grieving the loss of a loved one: a child, spouse, parent, sibling, relative, dear friend, or even a beloved furry, scaled, or winged creature? You are not alone. Someone who knows how you feel is with you.
Just call on Him! Your value to Him is immeasurable.
He chose to come to our world and assume our human nature so that we would know He really understands our every emotion.
Through faith, we can feel His touch of love.
Some days since losing my husband are still very hard for me to get through. But I know there is never a place in my heart where God is not.
My husband’s arms are a cherished memory, yet in the darkness of loneliness, I know I am still loved. God states outright that we are “precious” to Him, honored, and that He loves us (Isaiah 43:4). Believe His promises! God knows your feelings of pain. Jesus was “a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief” (Isaiah 53:3, KJV). He wept for Lazarus. He wept in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Yes, Jesus grieved, but He didn’t lose hope —and neither should we! Jesus can and will mend you if you ask Him. “Pour out your heart before Him” (Psalm 62:8, NKJV). Seek Him in His Word. He is “the Father of mercies and God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3, NKJV). As you walk —or stumble— through this day, know that God is with you every single minute throughout the mundane, the joys, and the heaviest burden of grief. Because of His presence, you are making it.
You are surviving it all because you are strong through Christ. So get up now. Make your bed to help organize your life and thoughts.
Then say a prayer, committing yourself to embrace the many blessings of this day —starting with you!
