Everything Has Purpose

Women · From the book Covered And Carried

Verse:

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. —Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV

I was blessed with my dream car! My children and two of my best friends came to visit and see my dream car. But while backing up (being so excited), I backed into my daughter’s vehicle! We managed to get through all the post-accident formalities. When the time came for my “dream” to go to the shop, I asked, “Who is there that can drive us back home?” I thought of my friend Renee and called her at work.

After I had quickly explained our dilemma, she said, “No problem. Just call when you’re ready for me to pick you up and take you home.

I don’t have to go to work today until two o’clock this afternoon.” That was a blessing! My husband, Pete, had an eye appointment at eight thirty that morning. Then we stopped for breakfast, trying to allow enough time for Renee to get up before she would have to pick us up. When we got to the automotive shop, the owner said, “Oh yeah, you’ll need a ride home. Let me call this fellow that I know.” “We already have a backup plan,” I said, explaining it to him. “No, let your friend sleep,” he responded. We did and rode home with the young man that had been called.

When we told him where we lived, our driver said, “I live right down the street from you!” As we drove along, we found we had quite a bit in common.

As we neared home, my husband (the navigator) started giving directions to our house. “Wait a minute,” interrupted the driver. “Didn’t you guys have some carpet installed about two years ago?” We had. “I helped lay your carpet. I thought you folks looked familiar when I saw you.” I admitted to him, “And I thought you looked familiar too.” What next, God? As soon as I got home, I called Renee and shared what had happened. She said, “Well, praise God!” Then I noticed a message on my phone from a neighbor, asking whether we could pick up her heart medicine.

There is really no need to be stressed if we trust God to be in control. God is always there, working things out. He blesses us so that, through Him, we can be a blessing to others.
