No Way!

Women · From the book Covered And Carried

Verse:

I Am Waiting Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another —and all the more as you see the Day approaching. —Hebrews 10:25, NIV

My husband, Milton, and I are always thrilled when we can spend treasured time with our granddaughters, Azoya and Kyrah.

This past Thanksgiving holiday was no exception. Our home was filled with happy voices and eager feet wanting to explore our new place.

One evening we were left alone with the grandchildren when their parents left for some well-deserved alone time. As it got closer to bedtime, Kyrah became more and more fretful and wanted the comfort of her mom. “Where are my parents?” she inquired. “Where is my mom?” We completed the bedtime routine: putting on pajamas, brushing teeth, reading a story, and praying. When we prepared to tuck Kyrah into bed, she declared, “I want to sleep in Mommy’s room, where I will wait until Mommy gets home.” When I lay down beside her in an attempt to comfort and coax her into my room to wait, she defiantly exclaimed. “No way! I am not going into your room! I’m staying in Mommy’s room!” Soon my little darling was fast asleep, and I transferred her to my room, where I could keep a watchful eye on her. As I later shared the incident with her parents, I could not help but relate her defiance —and determination— to our wait for the return of our precious Lord. No way will I be distracted by the length of time He is taking to return! No way will I forget His promise of a sure return! No way will I forget to tell others of His return! No way will I neglect to be ready! No way! As promised, Azoya and Kyrah were picked up by their parents after their trip. Our precious Lord has also promised to return, and He will. In Hebrews 10:37, we read, “For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry” (KJV). These words are comforting to me.

Dear Lord, help us to wait patiently for You and in no way be distracted.

Thank You for the promise of Your sure return.
