Verse:“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.” —2 Chronicles 16:9, ESV
Early on the morning of a doctor’s appointment, I sensed a very special urge to check through my handbag and purse —a task I had already done the day before. Reluctantly, I began to remove the unnecessary items and checked through my medical and business cards, organizing them as I went.
To my surprise, my major debit card was missing.
I emptied both the handbag and purse again, this time slowly and laboriously checking item by item. Once everything was in order, I still had not found the card. I rushed to my dressing table and anxiously searched, but no card. I literally ran to my study desk and rummaged through papers and books —no card.
Panicked, I suddenly remembered the car.
That must be where the card is because I usually use my card at the drive-through, I thought. After a frantic search, still, the card was nowhere to be found.
“Where is my card? I need it for my medical appointment, and time is running out! O my God,” I cried out, “help me; I cannot find my card.” I decided the only thing to do was rush into the bank and get a new card before going to the doctor. “Lord, why this delay? I don’t understand why this has to be so frustrating,” I prayed.
But I headed to the bank, trusting that God knew and had a reason for everything —even the lost card and extra trip to the bank.
At the counter to be processed, I was required to provide my identification card. I easily handed my driver’s license to the banker, feeling very pleased with how organized I was. The banker looked at the driver’s license and asked, “Do you have another identification card because this one expired more than a month ago?” “What?” I shouted. Then I remembered my prayer and realized God was leading.
I didn’t know I was driving illegally. God allowed this frustrating trip to the bank so I would learn about the driver’s license and take care of it.
I had other identification cards and so was able to get a new bank card, get to my doctor’s appointment on time, and apply for a new driver’s license, praising a God who guides and protects.
