The Miracle —Part 2

Women · From the book New Every Morning

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” —Isaiah 55:8, 9, NKJV

We were silent as we went to our next appointment with the specialist. The peace and trust continued. I knew that God was in control and accepted whatever God’s decision and plan for my life and my unborn baby would be.

I claimed His promise that His plan was not to harm us but to prosper us and give hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). I was meditating on the Word of God. The doctor waited for our decision. I finally told him we wanted to do the offered procedure; whereas I knew that it might not be the best decision, I trusted God.

The procedure was easy and took only a few minutes.

We didn’t know whether this procedure would be able to save our baby, but our hope was in God. The doctor suggested we go home to the Eastern Cape where our families could support and care for us. He knew that we were exhausted and in pain —that this had taken a toll on us both emotionally and physically.

When we arrived in the Eastern Cape, my husband decided I should go straight home to my mother to get the love and comfort I needed.

My mother and I continued to pray for positive results and, more than that, for God to prepare me for the worst if it came to that point.

Christmastime was drawing near, and I thought about the birth of Jesus Christ. I started to find comfort in the thought of our Savior’s birth.

It reminded me that death is not eternal.

I enjoyed Christmas and focused on the love of God, who sent His only begotten Son to save my unborn child and me. I felt the heavy burden lifted from my shoulders. Three days after Christmas, the doctor called us with the best news —our son was completely healthy! We were in awe of God. In May 2010, Milani (meaning “be rooted to God”) was born —healthy and beautiful. God had heard my prayers and brought me peace and trust —and then blessed me with a healthy child.

Praise God!
