Verse:For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. —Psalm 91:11, NKJV
A friend and I were traveling to a women’s retreat, but I needed to stop for an appointment. As I waited for my friend to pick me up afterward, I realized I had left my water bottle inside, so I went and retrieved it.
We stopped about an hour later to eat —that’s when I realized I had forgotten my purse at my appointment... sigh. I shared my story at the retreat, and someone asked, “Can’t someone bring it up with them?” Yes! A friend hadn’t left yet and was able to stop and pick it up on her way. At the end of the weekend, I had my hands full carrying a bag and my suitcase to my car when I met a friend.
While we chatted, I set down my bag next to my suitcase.
As we said goodbye, I grabbed my suitcase and headed home.
On the drive home, I needed something from my bag and realized I had left it behind. Sigh... I called the director of the retreat, who had found the bag and sent it home with a friend. We had stopped at Costco to shop, so while there, I texted my friend to see if she was home so I could swing by and get my bag.
She texted back that she was at Costco! We looked around, and there she was, just a few cars away. Wow! Thank You, Jesus! As we were leaving, my youngest daughter asked if she could borrow my Costco card, and you guessed it... I couldn’t find it. We went back in the store, didn’t see it, and no one had turned it in.
I whispered to the Lord, “What are You going to do with me?” Before I could pray to find the card, my daughter found it on the pavement by the driver’s door of my car. “Jesus, I have no words! You are so, so good to me!” I have a history of forgetting things. It’s so frustrating, but I usually don’t put the Lord through so much work like I did that weekend. But maybe I do. I just don’t realize how much He does as He watches over me. Everyone I know has forgotten, misplaced, or lost something.
Someday soon, won’t it be fun to talk with our angels and laugh at our forgetfulness? Jesus, please, continue to keep watch over us.
We need You desperately.
Thank You!
