A Life Filled with Love

Women · From the book Strength For The Day

Verse:

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. —Ephesians 5:2, NLT

One sermon I listened to shared glimpses into the faith-filled lives of Moses, Enoch, and Abraham while linking their personal stories to the speaker’s life experiences. When he mentioned that Enoch’s life “pleased God” (Hebrews 11:5, NKJV), I felt elated and affirmed by Jesus. Every day I willingly put my life on the altar of sacrifice to be used by God however He pleases, especially for Sonny’s sake (my autistic son) and for others who require lifelong support. I consider myself an ambassador for the King of kings, and I live my life in the Spirit. This means that if I feel impressed by the Holy Spirit to reach out to others and tell them about Jesus and share the gospel message of hope, I do it. My job brings me much joy and peace of mind, knowing that God is in absolute control over my life and the lives of my family members.

This job has also caused me intense pain and many tears, for not all Christians think alike. Heaven knows that I would never intentionally do or say anything that would bring disgrace to Jesus; however, I am subject to making human mistakes just like everyone else. This does not keep me from sharing my faith; it keeps me humble with a teachable spirit. If a “please forgive me” is necessary, I will say it without hesitation. I am sure that Sonny is reaping many blessings through his mom’s chosen career and state of well-being.

“The king upon his throne has no higher work than has the mother. The mother is queen of her household. She has in her power the molding of her children’s characters, that they may be fitted for the higher, immortal life. An angel could not ask for a higher mission; for in doing this work she is doing service for God. . . . Her work is for time and for eternity.”* There is something uniquely beautiful about a woman who grows from her struggles and uses the lessons learned to spread love and wisdom. Be the example that shows others how to live a life filled with love—“a pleasing aroma to God” (Ephesians 5:2, NLT)!
