Push While Waiting

Women · From the book New Every Morning

Verse:

For the word of the LORD is right, And all his works are done in truth. —Psalm 33:4, KJV

Psalm 121 is one of my mother’s favorite psalms.

She would read it to me when I was in a disheartened mood.

Now, it is one of my favorites: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber... The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand... The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore” (Psalm 121:1–8, KJV).

God is my hiding place and strength in my time of need.

As a child, I had to learn that God will allow negative events into my life so that I can grow and learn to wait on Him. The waiting time or season may be over today, tomorrow, or perhaps years from now. Until then, I must wait.

There is something I can do in the waiting season.

I keep busy by praying! God’s permissive will is —and always desires— what is best for me because I am His child, and He loves me.

Not all my prayers are answered the first time or in the manner I desire, but I keep praying anyway —I pray until something happens (PUSH).

Along the way, I have learned to step into unexpected blessings, step over the mess life brings me, and not sweat the small stuff! Life is too short to be anxious! I am mindful that if God answered every prayer in the manner I first wished for, it might not have been best for me. Constantly praying renews my spiritual life and keeps me growing in my Christian faith. I know from experience that He may not come when I want Him; however, He is always right on time! I suggest that you, too, hold on and thank God for the many blessings He sends our way and for the waiting seasons when He is growing us to our best.
