Wrong Car Was an Answer to Prayer

Women · From the book New Every Morning

Verse:

“Before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.” —Isaiah 65:24, NKJV

My husband had a trip overseas for his meetings.

I had taken him to the nearest airport before, but this time he was flying out of Reagan National Airport (DCA), which was new to me.

For this reason, I asked him to call a taxi.

The driver was delayed, and my husband was getting anxious —fearing he would miss his flight. So he asked me to drive him.

I was not happy because I had never been to this airport before. However, I had no choice but to take him. We prayed and left for the airport.

I could not use the GPS on my phone because the battery was running low, and I was saving it for emergencies. While at the airport, I asked a man how to get to Route 395. I knew my way home from that spot.

The man figured out I was not grasping the directions and politely told me to just follow him. We started off, and I watched his car faithfully until, at one point, another car cut in between us. It was a strenuous drive trying to keep up with the driver because there were many similar cars. I tried everything possible to get behind my guide, and eventually, I did. After a few minutes, the car took an exit, and I followed, only to realize that it was going to a hotel. When the driver stepped out of the car, he was not the person I had spoken to earlier, and he was with his family.

I went back into my car as if I had forgotten something.

I whispered a prayer to God for direction.

I then decided to go into the hotel, although I was afraid the driver might be thinking I was following him. I went to the front desk and explained my predicament, and the lady was so understanding. I gave her my home address, and she printed a MapQuest for me. I studied it carefully and then started home to get ready for work.

God knew how hard it would be to follow behind a car in that busy street. So He directed me to a wrong driver who ended up at a hotel just for me to get printed directions. I was a little late for work but safe and less stressed out.
